"G3/G5 Too Big and Heavy?" We Heard You—But Size Is the Price of Stability, Not Padding
"G3/G5 Too Big and Heavy?" We Heard You—But Size Is the Price of Stability, Not Padding
We never shy away from user feedback. Recently, some golfers told us directly: the icango golfcaddy G3 and G5 look "a full size larger and several kilograms heavier" than a standard push cart. Could we make them smaller?
The honest answer is: we seriously tried. But after extensive field testing, the current dimensions and weight of the G3 and G5 represent the calculated trade-off for genuine all-terrain capability—trim them down, and you sacrifice performance in rough grass, side slopes, and uneven transitions.
Why the G3/G5's weight and footprint are not "dead weight"
- The G5's 6-wheel configuration with stabilizer wheels requires a larger contact patch and structural envelope—this is what delivers zero wobble on side slopes, no nose-diving on ascents/descents, and no bogging down in thick rough.
- The G3's UWB follow system and reinforced frame demand torsional rigidity to resist twisting—on terrain like grassy banks, gravel transition zones, and compacted soil near greens (not steep, but slippery), a lighter chassis tends to drift or stall.
At their current specs—G3 folded approx. 735×630×380mm / 16.5kg; G5 net weight <19kg, folded to roughly a large carry-on footprint—these represent the optimal balance between "surviving real course conditions" and "still fitting into a standard sedan trunk."
Simply put: if you want all-terrain capability, you have to give it the structural foundation to deliver it.
But we also understand—some players simply want "as small as possible"
That's why we offer a different path: the icango golfcaddy G1.
It is NOT a "downgraded" G3/G5. It is a separate product line redesigned from the ground up for ultra-portability, rapid setup, and easy handling:
- Folded dimensions: 900×600×380mm, net weight: 11kg—an average person can lift it into a car with one hand
- Bluetooth-based follow + remote control, speed adjustable 1–7 km/h, field-tested to complete 18 holes with charge remaining, remote range up to ~70m in open areas
- Sufficient, lightweight, and hassle-free—provided your home course is mostly flat or gently sloping, and you prioritize minimum footprint over maximum terrain adaptability
Summary: A Matter of Honest Positioning
We are not building a "bigger is better" trolley. We are offering a transparent choice based on actual course conditions and user priorities:
- icango golfcaddy G1: You want maximum portability → the lightest, smallest auto-follow trolley available
- icango golfcaddy G3: You want UWB precision follow + durable daily performance → the all-rounder sweet spot
- icango golfcaddy G5: You want 6-wheel stability + flagship follow experience → the size and grip it deserves
No wasted specs. Only clarity: choose the trolley that matches the courses you actually play.
